(via)

Wow, so, NANA Services is hiring in for jobs in Antarctica starting in October and ending in February 2010.  (Antarctica’s “summer”.)  Positions include:

  • Chef/Sous Chef
  • Food & Beverage Staff
  • Housekeeping/Janitorial
  • Recreation Staff
  • Retail

SHOULD I APPLY???

I THINK I’M GOING TO?!?!?

  • be sure to blog from there!

  • A-Dog, have I told you of my parents’ friends who signed on to one of these “work in Antarctica” shindigs? They hated it so intensely they still got worked up talking about it years later. two stories really stuck out:

    1. The low-status kitchen workers referred to breasts as “helicopter tickets” because only foxy ladies were given awesome helicopter rides by the helicopter-driving scientists

    2. On the way back to the “lower 45″ after his 6 months in what he referred to as “Hell,” our friend was so full of resentment that he peed in his special high-altitude cargo-airplane suit. JUST TO SHOW ‘EM.

Conclusion: my parents’ friends are probably not the most reliable judges of how awesome working in Antarctica must surely be.
