Being a big fan of women, dalas informed me today that the United Nations just released a report that said every country in the world is misogynist. Among the findings was that

“Many states still have different ages of marriage for young women than they have for young men, and the age for girls is always lower then the age for boys.”

WHY THIS IS FUCKED UP: Such discrimination wreaks havoc with women’s lives. For instance, if a 13 year-old girl in Indonesia wants to marry her twin brother she’s got to wait around for five years for him to be fair game. Of course the brother will probably constantly try to tempt her into marrying him illegally. You know, as part of sibling rivalry. This situation would make a hilarious sitcom but probably terrible family dynamics. Meanwhile, the sister is getting all impatient and will probably just end up marrying someone else like her uncle or a cow.

Also, the study found that “70% of the world’s poor are women and they own just 1% of the world’s titled land.”

WHY THIS IS FUCKED UP: I can totally relate to this: I also own just 1% of the world’s titled land and I am absolutely miserable. 1% sounds like a lot but it’s actually not!
