THE WORLD OF LAST WEEK: Computer Poll

Just biding its time

Last week we found out that scientists want computers to make end-of-life decisions for humans. What else should computers be able to do that they can’t do already? Please respond in the comments. I know that at least eight people read this blog, so I expect to see eight responses. The results will be kept forever in an Internet time capsule so we can look them up in 50 years and laugh about how naive we were (assuming we’re still using computers… AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!). See you Monday.

  • Let me start. Gay computers should have the right to marry. My belief is that love is love, no matter if it’s between two male computers, a human female and a human male, even a computer male and a human male. It’s love.

  • You succeeded at making me feel obligated to respond, and I feel kind of bad now because it’s Monday and I never did. I have an excuse, though: I couldn’t think of anything suitably clever. It worked out okay, though, because my failure led to an idea: computers should be able to instantly generate witty comebacks so those of us not endowed with a quick wit can fake it and not have to worry about their comments to amusing bloggers paling in comparison.
